Ready, but not

So this baby is due in 3 weeks.  I thought that I would feel more confident the second time around, like I could totally handle it no matter what!  Well, I think I am just as nervous and anxious as I was the first time around.  And they say that you forget everything after you have your first and it's totally true.  I've had a few doctor's appointments where I have had to ask dumb questions (at least I thought they were dumb because I should have remembered from the last time around).  You really do truly forget what happened the first time around.

Part of the reason for not feeling ready is the fact that Phil is out of town until May 14 and my mom doesn't get here until May 15.  Another part is that I know that life is going to completely change.  It was one thing to have Makayla, that was only one!  Now I have her to take care of as well as another one that guaranteed will not be sleeping more than 2-3 hours at a time.  I could sleep the day away when I had Makayla, but now I won't be able to do that.  The first few weeks may be ok because Phil will be here and my mom and then my dad will be here.  But after that I'm on my own.  Within the next few weeks there may not be too many posts coming from here!  When I have the chance I will get back into the swing of things.

With Phil commuting every week, life is going to be different for all of us.  I am so glad that I don't have to think about work or returning to work or anything like that.  I can just focus on the kids and staying sane!  I know that there are many great friends around who I'm sure will be stopping by to say hi and to see the new baby.  As long as I don't think about all the changes and what life is going to be like I feel ok.  Once I start to think about the future - YIKES, my head goes a little crazy!  So now that I have spilled it all on the Internet I feel GREAT!

So, here's to waiting out the next few weeks and hoping that this little one waits until the family is here!!!

Feeling like a perfectly roasted hot dog

Do you ever feel like you are a perfectly roasted hot dog? Here's what I mean... for those of you who have been pregnant in the past, you know that you sleep on your side and they recommend that you sleep on your left side because on the right side is your sciatic nerve and it is the main nerve from you to the baby, or something like that. I am a tummy and right side sleeper, so sleeping on my left side does not happen naturally or comfortably. Plus there is the fact that everything inside of you is squished and other parts are expanded and sleeping can be really difficult - not to mention the fact that your bladder feels like the size of a pea - TMI, sorry. So the other night as I was laying in bed, pillows between my knees, around my tummy and blankets propping up my back I felt like it was the beginning stages of roasting the perfect hot dog. I fell asleep and about 2-3 hours later, awoke to go to the washroom and carefully positioned myself on my other side, so that I could roast that side. Then 2-3 hours later, bathroom and reposition again to the other. Ah, the joys of being pregnant! When I woke up in the morning I felt like a perfectly roasted hot dog. And thinking about that made me want to go camping with a nice big fire and roasted hot dogs and S'mores. Oh summer, when will you arrive?

Thanks to all who posted and gave me such nice comments on my previous post. I wasn't looking for compliments, but boy do they sure feel nice! It's hard to believe that this pregnancy is quickly coming to a close.

Just what the Dr. ordered!

So I was finally able to take some time for myself and go and get my hair cut. These days it's the little things that make me feel good. I was even able to pick up a few little things at Walmart the other day - just for me (I love my new lip gloss!!).

So, here's the hair cut, although not a super great photo.

Here's where we are with baby #2 - 30 weeks!

Boy do I look big. A friend comment the other day that I am perfectly round and she just wants to poke me with a pin and pop the balloon! I thought it was funny. I am nice and round!!! :)

Here is a photo of me at about 29 weeks with Makayla (we didn't get a 30 week photo).

Feeling like the only one...

I'm not sure if it's a second pregnancy thing, but apparently I'm getting large. Someone at church stopped me last week and told me that I was starting to get pretty big and that my face was filling out. They then quickly said that it looked good on me. I really don't know how to take those comments. I really have issues putting on weight, even though you are supposed to when you're pregnant, but really, do people have to make comments about it. I mean we're already hormonal and emotional, the last thing we want is for someone to tel us that we look fat.

I just read a post from another girl who is expecting her second a few weeks before me and she has had some of the same comments - some people even asking her if she is having twins. So I don't feel that bad.

I'll admit this time around the weight has crept up on my faster than the first time, but this time around I haven't been at the gym a few times a week and I have been solo parenting, so at the end of the day I don't feel much like exercising for 30 minutes. Makayla and I have however been getting out for walks because the weather has been so incredible and I think that spring may just be around the bend!

11 more weeks to go - I guess I can live with a few more extra pounds, but I am feeling pretty determined to get back into shape in 3 months or so (at least start getting back into shape. Walks or even runs when I can and Phil has some crazy workout designed for me to do. So, I am looking forward to #2 joining our family and getting back to an active lifestyle with the family!). Especially after watching the Olympics I really want to get into shape. Those athletes are in amazing shape and they are so inspirational. I may not be in Olympic shape, but I'm determined to try and get back to where I was before this second pregnancy! Wish me luck!

Family Visit!

I am so excited that my mom is coming to visit us today! She will be here in a few hours! She is coming to help me with some packing of our goods as well as to help me do some cleaning and some touch up stuff to our house so we can get it ready to put up for sale. We are hoping to be able to get things ready around here so we can list our house in the next month or so and be able to sell it before the baby comes and then move after the baby is born. Not complicated at all!

It will be nice to have an extra pair of hands for a whole week. I'm actually super lucky for two weeks because Phil is home now for a few days and then my mom is here for a week and then Phil is home for a few more days! Yeah me for having some help. I'll actually be able to get some things around the house done as well as work as well as personal. You know that brow wax I mentioned earlier - well it's actually booked and gonna happen!

I am so thankful to have some extra help as I know that both Makayla and I have been feeling a little bored of each other and getting out to do things isn't always an option. So being at home most days makes it tough on both of us.

So, thanks mom and Phil for being around for these next few weeks! I'm really looking forward to it!

15 More

Wow, I can hardly believe that this new baby will be here in approximately 15 weeks. These last 25 weeks have gone by pretty fast. I have been really lucky to have had a really good pregnancy so far. For both pregnancies I didn't have any vomiting, or "morning sickness". For this second one I did feel a wee bit more nauseous, but that was all. I feel like this time around I have been eating like a horse for the whole pregnancy - I don't remember that for the first! I have been truly blessed with a great toddler (who even though is approaching 2 and has her moments) who sleeps well and eats well. I am just saying a few prayers that the second one is just as amazing. With only 15 weeks left in this pregnancy that means that there is possibly only another 17-20 more weeks until we are moving (Lord willing). I can hardly believe that it is February already and that just means that the snow is going to start melting, we can finally get outside since it will not be -20 and we can begin to feel spring at our finger tips - well at least I hope! I am so excited to meet this little one and have our family all together!!! The journey continues!

Makayla's love for the cats

Smokey and Makayla have been friends even before Makayla was born. For some reason our cats seem to know when I'm pregnant. They are much more cuddly and are always trying to find a spot in my lap. Smokey is almost obsessed with belly and will sit on it and purr and kneed her paws on my belly. For the first pregnancy I found it kind of neat. But this second time around it's just weird! Phil and I talked about whether or not Smokey and Makayla would be best buds after she was born because of their prenatal (if that's the right word) bonding time. Sometimes Makayla would even kick at Smokey when she was still inside. Sometimes it would make Smokey purr more and sometimes she would just get up and leave. This second time around she is still pretty interested in sitting on my belly - usually right after a meal so I'm full and she's a pretty big cat. But needless to say Smokey and Makayla are pretty good friends. Here's some recent pictures to prove their friendship!

Potty Training

So, with the new baby on the way, I'd really love to get Makayla out of diapers! I have been doing some online searching and reading up on this potty training thing. Originally I had thought I would give it a go around Christmas time as she was 18 months and I had heard that you could start them at that time. But I have been so busy and tired and I just couldn't bring myself to do it yet. Plus that means that she is growing up and I'm not too sure I'm ready for that either.

So we have started talking bathroom talk - not bad language or anything, just bathroom words. Trying to have her indicate either when she has gone and needs to be changed or if she needs to go. We are making some progress there and she is usually pretty good letting us know when she has done #2. I am thinking of getting a little training potty for her to start sitting on at certain times throughout the day. I'm no longer really rushing to get this done as I want to make sure she is ready and I don't want to rush her, but I'd really like her potty trained in the next three months - do you think that's possible?

Anyone out there have any good tips that worked for your kids? I'm game for any thoughts or suggestions that worked for you. Am I being too ambitious? I hope this all goes well and that she takes to it sooner than later!

The little peanut

I thought I would entertain you with a few photos of the new little peanut. The technician said the baby looks great and we will find out for sure at the doctors appointment next week. It was so exciting to see the new life that is growing and I can hardly believe that we are almost half way through! Time is flying and I'm sure it will continue to go by fast with all that there is to do!
