To Do Before Vacation

Our family is gearing up for our trip out East to Toronto to visit Phil's side of the family. Before Makayla, travelling was pretty simple. All we had to do was pack what we needed. Then if we got there and needed extra luggage because there was so much to bring back, we would just buy another piece of luggage. Now that we are travelling with a baby we have to bring so much more stuff. When we travelled out to BC this summer, my mom was able to borrow some essential baby products from a lady at church. We don't have it as easy going to Toronto.

So, what does one need to pack for just over a week?
- clothes for three people for approximately 9 days (that means a few extra outfits for Makayla just in case)
- bath supplies and toiletries for 3 people
- play pen
- carseat
- travel chair
- blankets (sleep sack) for Makayla
- camera and video camera
- Phil needs to bring some work stuff
- diaper bag with diapers and essentials for the airplane
- bottles
- formula for when we are out and about

Can anyone tell me what else I am missing?

I also have to tidy my house, clean out my fridge, and get things ready for the cat sitter! Oh yeah, and there is a boat load of laundry that should probably get started sometime soon!

Hi-ho, hi-ho, it's off to work I go!

Christmas in Pictuers

Uncle Jer and Aunt Jill (with cousin Tirzah) came over for dinner and presents. And you can see that Makayla thinks the turkey is about the same size as her (she could totally take him on!). She also enjoyed the wrapping more than the actual presents. And who could forget the awesome Santa picture!

The worst feeling in the world

On Friday my little one woke up with a very phlegmy (sp?) chest. We didn't think too much of it, but come Saturday morning she was sneezing up a storm and coughing very badly. She didn't nap much during the day and it took her forever to finally go to sleep on Saturday evening. As I was holding her and rocking her on Saturday night I felt so helpless. There was nothing that I could do for her. I didn't know what hurt or what was bothering her and because she is too young there is no medication that can be given to her. All I wanted to do was take the pain away from her, but I couldn't. And I began to wonder if that is how God felt when Jesus was there suffering for all of us. Did God desire to take away his sons pain so that he wouldn't have to endure it any longer? I have a feeling that is how he felt.

Sunday we went to church and lucky for us we have our family doctor there, so she gave her a quick look over and some tips of what we could do to help her out. It is seriously the worst feeling in the world. Seeing your baby so miserable and helpless and not being able to do much of anything for her. Sigh. The doctor said to give it a few more days and she should be on the up and up! I hope so, cause Phil and I have a double date scheduled for Thursday night!

It's that time again

So, it's Monday and as my last post stated I am trying to blog something every week.

It's kinda late right now and my brain is kinda tired from a very busy day. It started off going to the dentist and then a quick trip to West Ed. We headed home, put Makayla down for a nap, did a few hours of work and then started in on supper. After supper I cleaned up the kitchen, did two loads of laundry and the put Makayla to bed. And here I sit trying to come up with something to write.

Life has been treating us well. We are doing our best to stay warm as we just can't seem to get out of this cold funk. Just when it starts to warm up we get a dump of snow and then it gets cold again. Only six more months of winter, right? I sure hope it is less, but we will have to see what Mother Nature has up her sleeves for this year.

A few more weeks and then we will be heading to Toronto to visit Phil's family. We are looking forward to the family having a chance to meet Makayla, so I'm sure we will have lots to talk about when we get back and hopefully a lot of pictures too!

That's all for today, but maybe there will be more later.

What's up for 2009

So, this year being a new year and all, I thought I would challenge myself to keep this blog more up to date. I have decided to try and blog about something every Monday. It's not so much a New Years Resolution as it is a way to keep myself trying to keep all my faithful followers coming back for more!

This year I have also decided to try and do more scrapbooking. I started a few years ago when a friend of mine did Creative Memories. I have for whatever reason not done much of anything since then (that was about 7 years ago). I picked up an album the other day and some supplies and have begun a book for Makayla. Hopefully I will stay on it and have her first year documented well. It is a work in progress but it will give me something to do. I figured I needed a hobby of some sort as Phil has his video games, airsoft and other things that he likes to do. So hopefully I will continue with my hobby and get more suppiles so I can make really cool scrapbooks.
