Recipe of the Month - Skor Bark

That's right, SKOR BARK!!!  I stole the recipe from here.  It is to die for!!!

35 regular salted soda crackers
1 cup of butter (gotta use butter!!)
1 cup of brown sugar
1 cup of chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.  Arrange the cookies evenly on the sheet.

In a saucepan melt the butter over medium heat and add the sugar.  Mix until nice and melted and then at a low boil for 2 minutes.  Pour it over the crackers and then place in the oven for 5 minutes.

Sprinkle chocolate chips over the caramel mixture.  Place back in the oven to melt the chocolate chips.  Remove and take a spatula and spread the chocolate.

Place in the fridge/freezer until firm (about 45 minutes or so).  Take out and break or cut into pieces and enjoy.  Try not to eat it all at once!!!!

Just a few photo updates

"Playing" together (although it looks like Makayla is
getting mad about something!)
At our hotel in Jasper when we
met up with some friends from Edmonton
 Makayla hiding behind the curtain
Loving the tower that she built with dad
Setting up a picnic in the kitchen
where she served soup, cookies and coffee
Making dad a cup of coffee
The two littles chilling!
If I can't pick it up I'll just suck it up.
We've got a roller on our hands -
Taylor gets around by rolling all over!
 I just love those cheeks!
Ready to go to church

Milestones

Hurray!  I finished the 30 Day Shred with Jillian Michaels and ended up losing a few pounds and a few inches.  I am feeling much better about myself, and now I need to maintain it!

Makayla completed another round of swimming lessons and is getting braver and better all the time.  She has now started blowing bubbles and she kicks her legs real well.  I just need her to get comfortable and do things on her own.  I was going to sign the kids up for lessons for the next set but with us being gone to Toronto and I can only take them when Phil isn't working we were only going to get to about half of the classes and then I found out that the class I wanted was already full, so we will just see if we can find time to take them to the free parent/tot time for the next few months.

Taylor now gets around by rolling.  And he's getting fast and goes for things with buttons (like the cable box by the TV!).  He also loves to clap his hands and will do it on command (gotta love having trained monkeys!).  He also is now starting to give High 5's and will wave hi and bye when prompted!  So fun to watch them grow!

We had about two feet of snow in the last two days and the forecast says it's going to be plus 8 by the weekend - looks like we might have a nice mess on our hands by then!

Have a great weekend y'all.

Ugh

I really haven't had the urge or anything really exciting to blog about lately.  Sorry for the lack of posts for those of you that actually check things out here.  I have read a few blogs lately of some university students who are feeling blah.  It's March... the term is only a month and a half from being done.  I'm not in school and haven't been for awhile, but I think I'm feeling the March blah.  That time of the year when you really aren't motivated to do much, you just want the snow to be gone, to put the sweaters away and pull out the spring/summer wardrobe and play outside.  My kids are feeling it, I'm feeling it and I just want winter to be over!  But as I check out the forecast we are to have snow for most of the week and the mountains around here just don't seem to be melting at all.  I guess that's good for the skiers/snowboarders out there.  I'm not sure how to get out of this funk and feel better.  Maybe on a nice day I should open the windows and do some spring cleaning.  Any suggestions???

The kids have also been fighting off a cold - runny noses, congestion and the odd cough.  That means rough nights and cranky days.  Taylor was starting to finally sleep well and for the past week has gone into a night time funk.  He (and I) have been up 4-6 times a night.  That's almost worse than when he was a newborn.  It's exhausting.  He also thinks that 7am is a good time to be up for the day - I disagree. I function the best after 9am!!!  I would even settle for 8, but 7 just doesn't work well for me.  I hope that he feels better soon and starts to sleep better at night so that I can sleep better at night and thus have a better day!  I actually had to take a nap the other day because I had been up 6 times in the night with him.  And it's not like he's having bad dreams, he wakes up hungry and wants to eat.  Who needs to eat ever 2 hours at 10 months old?  And it's not like a little snack, it's like full out meals.  You'd think the poor kid was starving and hadn't eaten in days.  I'm not too sure what's going on with him, but I hope it changes - SOON!

I have loads of pictures on my camera to upload and get up on here.  So have some patience and I will get you some updated photos cause I know most of you just check here for photos of the kids!!!

Hope you're all having a wonderful week.  Happy Wednesday!
