Reflections

So, I thought that it was time for me to write something. Some of my friends have these blogs where they write and reveal thoughts and feelings from the day or event. I usually just write about what we are doing, and if I was a reader of this blog I may be bored! So, today I write something a little different.

A few months ago (I guess around November) my lead pastor came and asked me if I would be interested in leading a group of people to Panama where we do a short term mission trip and work with a few other churches to run an English camp for a week. I thought, for sure! I talked it over with Phil and since I love doing missions trips, I said that I would be more than happy to do the trip. At the same time we were busy doing some children's ministry planning for the summer and we are going to do a soccer camp where we partner with Athletes in Action and they send people to us to run the camp and then we invite kids and some assistant coaches. The program looks totally awesome. So, I got in touch with them and they had a few dates that they were available in Edmonton. So, I talked it over with my planning committee and we picked a date, later to find out that it overlapped with the Panama trip.

So, then the person in charge of doing the missions trip was taking a real long time getting me info. All I had was an approximate cost and a date. The more I thought about it and the less that was being done, the less I really wanted to go. I am just the person in charge that is going, not the one who is making all the plans. So, I talked to them and they said they would try and get more information. We finally got more info and now we only have about 3 and a half months till we go. That means we need to book plane tickets, passports, immunizations, etc. before we go! YIKES!

I have been praying about this since they asked me. I have been asking God to give me names of people who would either benefit from this trip or be an asset on the trip. I sent out an email to a few people that I felt that God was laying on my heart. I have already received two replys, one yes and one who is thinking about it! I am starting to get a little more excited and a little more stressed as time is running out and I still have a soccer camp to coordinate. The awesome thing is that I almost have all the volunteers that I need for the camp. Now it is just doing registration and getting the word out there for the kids! I can't wait to see what God is going to teach me these next few months leading up to these two huge events. I know that there is a lot for me to learn and I only hope that God will give me the strength that I need to make it through!

So, now I am starting to look forward to the trip. People have till the end of this month to decide if they are going to come so that we can book the tickets and get everything ready. Please pray for me and the people who will be going and who are contemplating going!

These are my reflections... hope you enjoy them!
