On The Road Again

So, Phil has been away for almost two weeks. He was doing some work up north in Grand Prairie and then a week of work in Calgary. He is really busy lately and working very hard. He is really enjoying his work and likes the challenges that it holds. He is also helping out with church events. He is preaching once a month and currently teaching Sunday School. He is really enjoying the fact that he still gets to do all the church stuff that he likes, without the pressure and added responsibility.

Things are still going well for me and my job. I am really liking it and finding it to be pretty good. I realize that it is still the first year (and we have been here now for 7 months already) and there is still a lot to learn. People have been great and are very accomadating. I am excited for the summer as I will get a chance to take some people to Panama to help with an English camp there for a week. I am pretty excited about that. Also we are running a Soccer Camp for the kids in conjunction with Athletes in Action. I have a feeling that it is going to be awesome! I am really excited and can't wait for that week. Phil's parents are planning to come out for a week or two in July and my folks will hopefully come for a visit in August. We have no holiday plans for this year as of yet as we look into the possibility of purchasing a home of some sorts.

There are some exciting things that are happening in the children's ministry and it makes me love doing what it is that I am doing. There have been so many kids lately asking these super tough questions (such as, who wrote the Bible; if God knew that Adam and Eve were going to sin, why did he let them; when will Jesus come back to earth; and other awesome questions). So, I have taken to reading some books and doing some research and my brain seriously begins to hurt. I start to think about God and realize that He is too big to comprehend. Then I start to think about how I am going to explain these things to 8 year olds? It really got me thinking more personally about my own relationship and understanding of God. Sure I grew up going to church and in a Christian family and went to Bible school, but there are just some things you have to learn and figure out on your own. I have been reading an interesting book by J.I. Paker called "Knowing God". It is good and is helping to affirm my beliefs for me. It is also giving me some new perspectives on things. It is amazing to me the questions that children have but it just goes to show you that even at a young age God can instill in them a curiosity to discover Him. How cool is that? Anyway, I have really been encouraged by the kids that I am working with and I believe that God is going to do awesome things in these kids lives! I'll keep you posted!
