Ok... so where does the time go. It feels like only a few weeks ago we had Thanksgiving and now Christmas is something like 18 days away. I will never know how or why time goes by so fast.
So, last week myself and three other pastors and two of their spouses took a trip to Banff for four days. We went there for what the Alliance calls District Prayer Retreat. For those who are not familiar with the terminology the C&MA (Christian and Missionary Alliance) have divided Canada into districts. Alberta has its own district and every year in November they gather in Banff for a retreat. It was great. We had a guest speaker and his wife from NY come. They are from a church there and he is the author of a book called "Emotionally Healthy Church". The sessions were totally amazing as he had us look at who we are, past and present and by looking at those things we can see how we will lead in the future. We had to look back at our family backgrounds to see what types of patterns emerged and view that in light of who we are as leaders and pastors. It was truly an eye opener for me. There was a lot of deep soul searching that went on and it was truly amazing how God worked in our pastors and gave us so much passion and excitment for the future of our church. So that was pretty cool.
This week has gone by fairly quickly as we celebrated Rememberance Day with a holiday on Monday. We went for Dim Sum with some of our friends and then toured West Ed for a few hours. It was great because there were not kids as they had to go to school and the mall wasn't that busy. So we scouted out some Christmas gifts and then trudged through the snow to get home.
Oh yeah, speaking of snow we have A LOT! Anybody want some? I'd be happy to box it up for you and send it in the mail. For a city that gets a lot of snow every year they sure do a bad job of cleaning it up. Lucky for us the weather warmed up a bit this week and the sun came out to play. A lot of the snow has melted away! It still is a little icy at times and can be a little dangerous!
Phil is super busy at work. He will be going to Calgary for a week coming up near the end of the month. He has been making a lot of trips and getting in some orders for people before Christmas. Jer is still here and has managed to get himself a job at the Royal Alexander Hospital. He has quit his other job and will be heading to Chilliwack to collect most of his stuff. So things are looking up for him.
Life is treating us well and we are looking forward to Christmas although it will be busy. Hope that all is well for you!
